UK–USA Trade Agreements (Parliamentary Scrutiny) Bill

[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to

This bill requires that any trade agreement between the UK and USA must be approved by Parliament before it can take effect. Currently, the government can negotiate and sign trade deals with limited parliamentary oversight. The bill establishes a formal process where MPs and Lords must debate and vote on US trade agreements, giving elected representatives direct control over whether major commercial arrangements with America proceed. This applies specifically to comprehensive or substantial trade agreements, not routine commercial arrangements.

Presented by Richard Foord.
