House of Lords (Hereditary Peers) (Abolition of By-Elections) (No. 2) Bill [HL]

[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to

This bill would stop the House of Lords from holding byelections when hereditary peers leave their positions. Currently, when a hereditary peer dies or resigns, other hereditary peers vote to elect a replacement; this bill would end that practice and let those seats stay empty.

Presented by Lord Grocott.
