House of Lords (Hereditary Peers) (Abolition of By-Elections) Bill [HL]

[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to

This bill would change how the House of Lords works by stopping special elections to replace hereditary peers when they leave. Instead of choosing a new hereditary peer to fill each empty seat, that seat would remain vacant, gradually reducing the number of hereditary peers in Parliament.

Presented by Lord Grocott.
