Domestic Abuse (Aggravated Offences) Bill

[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to

This bill creates new aggravated offences for domestic abuse crimes, meaning courts can impose harsher sentences when domestic abuse involves additional serious factors. It recognises that domestic abuse causing severe injury, involving weapons, or occurring while the victim is pregnant deserves stronger legal consequences than standard assault charges. The bill aims to send a clear message that domestic abuse is treated seriously by the criminal justice system and to better protect vulnerable victims by increasing penalties for the most serious cases.
