Short-term Lets (Planning Permission) Bill

[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to

This bill requires landlords and property owners to obtain planning permission before converting residential properties into shortterm holiday lets (such as Airbnbstyle rentals). Currently, many areas allow this conversion without planning permission under permitted development rules. The bill aims to give local councils greater control over shortterm letting in their areas, allowing them to manage the impact on housing availability, neighbourhood character, and local services. It represents a significant shift in planning rules to address concerns that shortterm lets are reducing the supply of longterm rental housing in many communities.
