Foreign Secretary announces Syria ministerial meeting in London
Foreign Secretary announces ‘London 11’ Foreign Ministers to meet in London on 22 October to discuss Syria crisis and Geneva II.
The Foreign Secretary William Hague has announced that the UK will host a meeting of Foreign Ministers from the ‘London 11’, the Core Group of the Friends of Syria, in London on 22 October. Speaking about the announcement, William Hague said:
At the UN General Assembly the Security Council adopted Resolution 2118 calling for an international conference on Syria to implement the Geneva Communiqué – which requires the establishing of a transitional governing body in Syria exercising full executive powers, including members of the present Government and the opposition and other groups, formed on the basis of mutual consent. To that end, the UK will host a meeting of the London 11 Foreign Ministers on Tuesday next week, to discuss preparations for the Geneva Conference, support for the Syrian National Coalition, and our efforts to achieve a political settlement to this tragic conflict.

The London 11 consists of: Egypt, France, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. Representatives of the leadership of the National Coalition will also attend the meeting.
