Foreign Secretary concerned by clashes between Hezbollah and the Israeli Defence Forces

Foreign Secretary calls for restraint after serious casualties, including the death of a UN peacekeeper, in clashes between Hezbollah and IDF.

The Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said:

“I am concerned about reports of clashes between Hezbollah and the Israeli Defence Force this morning, which have resulted in serious casualties. I offer my condolences on the deaths of a number of Israeli soldiers and a Spanish UN peacekeeper from the UN Interim Force in Lebanon. We urge all sides to exercise maximum restraint and prevent further escalation.”
