UK Parliament · Commons Division 5 · 20 May 2026
307 Aye / 171 No · majority 136 · 4 tellers (not counted)
The Motion for an Address is the formal Commons reply to the King's Speech, the government's legislative programme read at the start of each parliamentary session. The vote is on whether the Commons accepts the speech as the basis for the session's work. Amendments to it test specific government commitments.
Totals are Parliament’s official count, which does not include the tellers. Parliament’s published list names 305 of the 307 Aye voters and 168 of the 171 No voters; tellers are listed and marked but not counted.
